Bio · 200 words

Sara Cromie is a property investor living in the East Algarve, Portugal, close to the Spanish border.

Born and raised in Northern Ireland, she was told after O Levels that A Levels weren't for her. She talked her way into technical college, university and postgraduate study anyway, and built a twenty-year career in technology with IBM, BT, Microsoft, MCI WorldCom, Vodafone, Travelport, Cable & Wireless and Accenture, reaching director level twice and managing a £22M capital budget.

Sara is dyslexic and has ADHD. Years of making herself fit brought psoriasis, eczema, burnout and finally a breakdown. She tried to break free more than once without a foundation and ended up back in corporate. Property changed that. Over ten years she has owned 22 buildings across 10 projects in three countries and holds 13 today, and she talks as openly about the losses as the wins.

She is Head of Acquisitions at SW Partners In Property, writes the fortnightly newsletter Deal Shaping with Sara, and is working toward retreat venues for people with learning disabilities.

  • Leaving corporate the second time, and making it stick
  • Creative deal structures, including the ones that went wrong
  • Investing in Portugal as someone who lives here
  • Dyslexia, ADHD and building for the people the system wasn't built for
